‘A dark psychological thriller with a shocking twist’

Two women’s lives collide when a husband, father, and son is accused of and unspeakable crimes.

Kate thought she’d never have to set eyes on the man she blames for ruining her childhood again, but she was wrong. Teresa has always stood by her son, believing in his innocence, but the evidence is compelling. When a trial date looms a shocking event turns both their worlds upside-down, forcing them to confront their darkest fears.

Can Kate accept the past she’s tried hard to forget and is forgiveness possible for Teresa, the mother of the man painted as a monster?

My Review:

Antony Wells lives in England with his wife Jacky and his daughter Hannah. He is arrested on suspicion of obtaining indecent images of children. His house is searched and incriminating evidence is found on his computer.

Teresa, Antony’s mother, wants to believe her son is innocent. This incident has brought back the unpleasant memories of raising him. Teresa feels guilt and remorse over the role she played in his upbringing. She cannot help for feeling responsible for the adult he is today.

When Antony is arrested Kate Lawton is shaken.  She grew up with both Antony and his wife, but cut all connections long ago.  Kate has never spoken to anyone about her past experiences with Antony as a teenager.  As the investigation moves forward Kate becomes unhinged, finding it difficult to suppress her painful memories.

This psychological thriller is written in alternating voices. I liked that one character is speaking about the past while the other is in the present.  The author has an engaging writing style and kept me guessing right up to the finale.
