In the United States, most of the travel sites are very similar.   Large corporations control hotels so prices and selection don’t vary. In Europe, hotels tend to be smaller and family owned.   Booking.com has the best selection along with many exclusives.   I also appreciate that I can find apartments which are suitable for a family trip.

This is a great site for planning your travels.   Pick your out your destinations for each day and plot them on a map.   There is also handy iPhone application that will give you walking instructions as well.

A great way to find the top rated attractions, hotels and restaurants for any city.   They also have a great iPhone app with maps that helps you with local navigation
